Why do we need volunteers?

- Milestones runs on volunteer power. We have a variety of jobs that need done each day for lesson, horse care, and general barn care. In order for us to provide for our community, we need at least # volunteer hours a week.

What can volunteers expect?

- Expect to get dirty, work outdoors or in a barn in any weather, do manual labor, work with a variety of people, and walk alot.

What jobs do we need volunteers for?

- Lesson leaders, Lesson sidewalkers, prep (groom/tack) horses for lessons, care for horses by turning out/bringing in, cleaning stalls, feeding and watering, Keep the barn and property clean, maintain the property, and much more.

What is the time commitment to volunteering?

- We ask that when you sign up for volunteering, you are able to volunteer for a minimum of 2 hours the days you are here. We prefer volunteering be consistent week to week but we will happily take any days that you are willing to help.

How old do you need to be to volunteer?

- For safety reasons, volunteers must be over the age of 13. For volunteers under 18, we will need a parent or guardian's consent.

Do you need any horse experience?

- We do not require any horse experience to volunteer in any position. We will train all volunteers on safe horse handling practices.

What is the dress code or recommended dress code?

- Our dress code is very relaxed. We do require closed toed shoes, so no sandals or flip flops, no inappropriate graphics, and no crop or tube tops. We also recommend no super loose clothes, clothes with strings or chains, long earrings, or anything else that can be grabbed or caught by a horse or rider. Volunteers work outside or in a barn so remember to always dress for the weather.

We rely heavily on volunteer support at Milestones. We need volunteers to help during lessons with our horses and riders, as well as to keep the program up and running. Whatever your talents are, Milestones could use your help.

If you are interested in volunteering with us, please download, complete, and email the  Volunteer Application to Milestones: volunteer@milestonesinc.org.
